Ethical and Moral Considerations of Digitalization in Corrections

July 10, 2019

At the 3rd Technology in Corrections Conference, organized by EuroPris and ICPA in Lisbon in April 2019, Victoria Knight and myself presented our research on assessing and evaluating the moral implications of digitization in corrections.

During this presentation we also questioned the participants about issues related to some basic principles like legality, proportionality and equality. An overview of the responses was collected in the following report.

Those first results and the interaction with the audience during this conference and other recent international events have motivated us to do more research in this field and develop a usefull framework to support correctional agencies to reflect on the ethical and moral aspects of using technologie in prisons and probation services.
